History and Description of the Wynn Macau
When Stanley Ho lost his monopoly over gaming in Macau in 2002, Steve Wynn was concentrating on the construction of the Wynn Las Vegas. It wasn’t until the Las Vegas Sands Group opened the Sands Macau that Wynn thought seriously about building a replica of his immense Vegas complex. He decided to keep the same style as in Las Vegas. To add to the complexes prestige he built it on the seafront. This proved to be a very successful move and on opening on the 6th of September 2006 clients poured in. The hotel had 600 luxurious, comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms and suites. However, since gambling is all important in Macau it’s the Wynn Casino that attracts all the attention. The 19 000m2 gaming area, decorated in the style of Las Vegas’ leading casinos quickly attracted major players and made a good profit. Following his Las Vegas development plan, Wynn started the construction of an extension in 2007. The Encore Macau added 414 suites bringing the total number of rooms in the complex to 1014. An extra casino space and new attractions (2 restaurants, 3 shops, a bar and a spa) were also added to the Wynn Macau.
