Casino Manila City of DreamsThe gambling industry in the Philippines is said to be growing all the time and with the development of the Entertainment City gaming area in Manila this can be seen clearly. Melco Crown Entertainment has built its 1.3 billion dollar City of Dreams Manila casino resort within Entertainment City. The gaming zone is to be home to four extremely luxurious integrated casino resorts by 2018. At the moment only one casino resort is open for business in PAGCOR’S Entertainment City. The Solaire Casino and Resort developed by the Bloomberry Resorts Corp has been operating since March 2013. The joint Chairman of Melco Crown Entertainment, Lawrence Ho – Stanley Ho‘s son – recently announced that his company would open the City of Dreams Manila casino resort for a preview on the 14th of December.

A second City of Dreams for Melco Crown Entertainment

Melco Crown entertainment is based in Macau and the first City of Dreams integrated casino resort is a major attraction for gamblers and tourists Macau. The Macau City of Dreams offers its clientele about 480 gaming tables as well as around 1 400 gaming machines. The Philippines City of Dreams will offer players 365 gaming tables and also 1680 electronic table games. There will also be 1 680 slot machines available along with theatres, restaurants and retail outlets. The City of Dreams Manila will also have just over 980 hotel rooms and suites. The Macau City of Dream’s sister resort in Manila is expected to attract VIP players as well as Chinese players who will have experienced the luxury of gambling in the Macau casino. Lawrence Ho has said that demand for hotel rooms and gaming tables in the City of Dreams Manila casino resort is already high from junket operators in the Philippines.

Great hopes for increase in tourism when Entertainment City is complete

Entertainment City is located on Manila Bay and when completed it will have four large integrated casino resorts. The tourism industry in the Philippines is constantly developing. PAGCOR ( the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation) which is state owned has regulated gaming in the Philippines since it was founded in 1976. PAGCOR grants licences to local and international casino operators. The City of Dreams Manila casino resort will be joined by two other casino resorts that are under development : the Manila Bay Resorts from Japan based Universal Entertainment Corp due to open next year and the Bayshore City Resorts World a joint project from Genting and AGI which should be launched in 2018. Next Sunday’s “soft launch” has been described by Lawrence Ho as a chance for locals to preview the casino resort. The official opening is to take place in February 2015 just before the Chinese New Year which is a time when many celebrate in casinos.
