An innovative idea from Harrah’s Casino may help to improve the situation for Atlantic City’s gambling industry which has been suffering from falling revenues and fewer clients for some time now.
The online casino, Harrahscasino.com is running the first ever joint promotion between an online casino and a land based casino in New Jersey.
The hope is that this collaborative venture will bring more and possibly new clients to both Harrah’s land based and online casinos.
A link between “ the digital and physical world”
The marketing president of the online casino said that the promotion would “ bridge the digital and physical worlds” and “ create a consumer experience the industry has not yet seen”.
The plan is for players to take part in a digital Treasure Hunt in the online casino Harrahscasino.com. This involves them undertaking a series of weekly challenges online as part of the Treasure Hunt.
The online participants have the chance of winning prizes and cash worth over $40 000 for the weekly challenges. Then the players who complete all of this month’s internet challenges will be invited to go to Harrah’s Casino Resort in Atlantic City to take part in a real Treasure Hunt on the 18th of October.
Harrah’s land based and online casinos
Harrah’s land based casino resort was opened in 1980 and the original Harrah’s company was founded in 1937. The name Harrah’s Entertainment was changed to Caesars entertainment in 2010 although Harrah’s is still one of Caesars main brands. Caesars Entertainment, which is based in Nevada is one of the world’s largest gambling operators with investments worldwide.
The casino covers 16 400 square metres and offers players all the traditional casino games at just under 140 gaming tables (blackjack, baccarat, roulette, craps, sic bo) along with almost 3 000 slot machines. Players also have access to a poker room, several restaurants, an entertainment complex and many shops.
Online casinos have been legal in New Jersey since 2013 after a 2011 opinion by the United States Department of Justice that the Wire Act did not prohibit online casino games.
