It’s done! On Friday the 7th of June 2019, the Swiss Federal Council gave the green light for the granting of gaming licences to 4 online casinos. The Federal Commission for Casinos in Switzerland (CFMJ) had approved the licences that allow some online casinos in Switzerland to legally offer their games from the 1st of July 2019.
So in just over 3 weeks, players in Switzerland will be able to play in 4 legal online casinos. In the future, other licences will be granted to casinos that accept the conditions laid down by the CFMJ.
As regards unlicensed online casinos, Switzerland isn’t going to stand back and plans to wage war on them.
Developer and casino names well known to the public
From the 1st of July next, four online casinos will be accessible to players resident in Switzerland. The four lucky land based casinos where internet players can play in their virtual versions are: the Grand Casino Baden, the Grand Casino Davos, Grand Casino Lucerne and the Pfaffikon Casino. The casinos are working all out to be ready for D- Day. The online casino Jackpots.ch belongs to the Grand Casino Baden. The online casino site is already functioning. The launch version will evolve over the coming months with the addition of slot machines and live table and card games. Up to the present there are only one live European roulette and a live Triple Crown roulette on offer.
The Grand Casino Lucerne’s virtual casino will be available with the name Mycasino.ch. The CEO of the casino, Wolfgang Bliem has stated: “ The Grand Casino Lucerne is among the first to be granted a licence for an online casino by the Federal Council. For us, the online casino market is an important supplementary outlet for the casino, the central point of our business”.
A statement reveals that a roulette table live from the Lucerne Casino will be available to Swiss internet users. We don’t yet know what technology will be used to stream the roulette games from this Swiss casino. Evolution Gaming? Authentic Gaming? Ezugi? Or a different developer? It’s too early yet to know.
We know that the Pfaffikon casino has agreed a partnership with Playtech although we have no indication of the name of the site. Knowing the power of Playtech’s slot machines and live dealer tables, there should be a great range.
Casino777 partner of Davos Casino
Casino777, already legal in Belgium will also be legal in Switzerland. The Davos Casino is a partner of Casino777 so the site will be Casino777.ch. In Belgium, Casino777 is a partner of the Spa Casino and in Switzerland, of the Davos Casino. At the moment the site isn’t yet up and running. Although it’s supposed that the slot machines and live roulette, baccarat and blackjack tables in the Belgian version will be available on the Swiss site. We will know in a few weeks time.
The countdown has begun. Players will soon be able to begin by playing in 4 legal Swiss online casinos. Other casinos should be granted licences so players will be able to benefit from competition in offers and games. Once all the sites are online, we will be able to compare them and share our experience of these 4 Swiss online casinos. To be continued….
