Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that Scottish casinos can reopen on August 24th, 2020There has been much chaos with regards to reopening UK land casinos in recent weeks, and not long ago, we reported that the Betting and Gaming Council called the government’s policy “chaos” after a last minute reversal at the beginning of August.

Finally, casinos in Wales have been given the green light to reopen. August 29th is the big day, and operators are already preparing so that they can serve players safely in compliance with new regulations.

Casinos Slowly Reopening Across the UK

The Welsh government’s announcement comes after Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that Scottish casinos can reopen on August 24th. However, the Welsh decision did not come easily. Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford faced a backlash after he put casinos in the same category as night clubs as far as risk goes.

What about England? Its casinos have already been given the right to reopen from August 15th, despite England being the hardest-hit UK country during the pandemic.

How Will Welsh Casinos Keep Players Safe?

As we’ve seen at some other casinos across the world, Welsh casinos will have to implement a range of safety measures that, while essential, may take something away from the casino gaming experience. Safety measures will include:

  • Perspex screens to separate players from dealers.
  • Social distancing measures to separate players.
  • Track and trace systems to inform players if they’ve been in contact with an infected person.

All four Welsh casinos, which include two Grosvenor Casinos, Les Croupiers Casino, and Rainbow Casino will have to implement these measures for the foreseeable future.

Live Casinos Are Still the Best Bet

With due respect to health and safety authorities, it does seem that many of the measures taken to protect players will take something away from the casino gaming experience.

Luckily, online casino players have other options. You can play live dealer games with real dealers from the comfort and safety of home with no masks, no perspex screens, andno risk of contracting the virus at all.

Some of the games you’ll have access to at the top UK live casinos include:

  • Lightning Roulette With random multipliers of up to 500x on lucky numbers.
  • Lightning Dice – Bet on the outcome of three dice with multipliers of up to 1,000x on some numbers.
  • Crazy TimePlay a studio-based game show with multiple bonus rounds and a colourful money wheel.

We don’t recommend rushing out to UK land casinos anytime soon. When you have so many great games at your fingertips, why take the risk?
